House at the lake Balaton

The lake Balaton is the biggest fresh water lake in Central Europe. It has been a very popular destination for a long time. The lake has 2 shores, the southern and the northern. They are very different. The southern is more built in and has cities after cities with lot more tourists, bars on every corner with loud nightlife and more urban areas. The northern is the hilly side and has a lot of beautiful landscapes and it has all the historic and natural sights of the lake. I think the northern shore is the better choice for visiting. It has a lot of old small villages with charm and some bigger historical towns also. The Balaton Upland National Park includes really untouched nature (http://www.bfnpi.hu/index.php?lang=en) and the best wines of the country are produced here in the hills of the northern shores.

Our house is located in Zánka village, right in the middle of the northern shore, which gives to it a great location to explore the sights of the lake by bikes / car / train / bus or on boat, as the house has good access to all. So if you like nature, history, little villages, historical towns and good wine, then it's the place to be.

Here is a google earth picture with the main attractions of the Balaton Upland marked on it and the ZánkaHouse is in the middle with a green symbol, if you click on it, you can see it in bigger size:
